Parada Dabawenyo 2026 Ends in Success

If there’s one thing Dabawenyos proved, it is this: not even the blazing summer heat can outshine hometown pride.

Thousands of Dabawenyos gathered early on March 28, 2026, braving intense heat to witness the Parada Dabawenyo, one of the key highlights of the city’s 89th Araw ng Dabaw celebration.

The parade featured more than 407 contingents and 50 marching bands, with an estimated 35,000 participants composed of representatives from private organizations, local groups, and safety and security personnel. The event officially began at 6 a.m., with participants marching from Roxas Avenue to San Pedro Square, and concluded at around 12 noon.

The large-scale activity proceeded smoothly, aided by the city’s implementation of a walk-only policy for attendees, except for those requiring vehicle assistance. As part of the parade, operational assets from local and national security clusters (including fire trucks, ambulances, and rescue vehicles) were also showcased.

According to the Davao City Police Office, the event recorded no untoward incidents, including cases of fainting, despite the high temperatures. Authorities also confirmed that no security threats were monitored throughout the duration of the program, highlighting the effectiveness of the city’s security measures and crowd management.

Vice President Sara Duterte, who attended the celebration, expressed gratitude as the city marked its 89th founding anniversary. She emphasized that Davao City’s progress over the years reflects both the blessings received and the collective efforts of its people, who have actively participated in month-long activities honoring the city.

Davao City Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte also addressed the crowd, underscoring the resilience of Dabawenyos amid challenges. He noted that the city continues to grow stronger despite external pressures and called on residents to remain united and supportive of one another.

The mayor further expressed appreciation to the organizers, volunteers, and security personnel for ensuring a safe and orderly celebration. He also commended the discipline of Dabawenyos, which contributed to the overall success of the event.

He concluded by encouraging the public to uphold a culture of security and cooperation to maintain peace and order in the city, particularly in light of ongoing concerns related to illegal drugs and insurgency.

Overall, Parada Dabawenyo 2026 was marked by strong public participation, effective coordination, and a peaceful atmosphere, reflecting both the vibrancy and discipline of Davao City as it celebrated another year of its founding.
