There’s something extraordinary about Davao City. It’s a place where every season brings a reason to celebrate. Known for its rich culture, resilient people, and vibrant community spirit, this city transforms each quarter of the year into a colorful showcase of identity and pride.
From heritage to modern expression, Davao’s festivals are more than events, they are stories brought to life. Here are the four major festivals in Davao to look forward to, each one offering a unique experience that captures the soul of the city:
Araw ng Dabaw (March): A Celebration of Beginnings
Every March, Araw ng Dabaw marks the city’s founding anniversary. Streets come alive with grand parades, cultural performances, and community gatherings that highlight the unity of Dabawenyos.
Adding to the excitement is the much-anticipated Mutya ng Dabaw, where grace, intelligence, and cultural pride take center stage. It’s a highlight that brings together the city’s brightest and most inspiring women, embodying the spirit of Davao in every sense.
It’s a time when locals reflect on how far the city has come. Celebrating progress while honoring the people who shaped its journey.

Duaw Davao (June): Adventure, Pride, and Color
Held throughout the entire month of June, Duaw Davao (which literally means “Visit Davao”) is an open invitation to experience Davao City at its most dynamic and expressive.
This celebration blends sports events, outdoor adventures, art and film showcases, cultural exhibits, and food crawls. Markets and pop-ups across the city further spotlight homegrown products, reinforcing a strong sense of local pride. June also coincides with global Pride Month, and through parades, performances, and community-led events, the festival becomes a space where individuality is not only welcomed but celebrated.
This is one of those times when the city bursts into color, symbolizing diversity, inclusivity, and a shared sense of pride that brings people together from all walks of life.

Kadayawan Festival (August): Honoring Culture and Abundance
Often called the “King of Festivals,” Kadayawan Festival is the crown jewel of Davao’s celebrations.
Held in August, it pays tribute to the city’s 11 ethnolinguistic tribes and the abundance of nature. This is where everything feels grounded yet grand. The colors are richer, the stories deeper. You see it in the stunning floral floats and intricate costumes, hear it in indigenous music, and taste it in the abundance of local harvests.
This is where past and present meet, and where gratitude takes center stage.

Pasko Fiesta (December): A Season of Light and Joy
As the year winds down, Pasko Fiesta transforms the city into a glowing wonderland. It softens into something warm and magical.
Beginning in late November and throughout December, streets and public spaces come alive with musical performances, Christmas bazaars, and local activities where generosity becomes visible, when traditions are shared, and when the pride of being Davaoeño shines brightest.
This celebration captures the true essence of Filipino Christmas. It transforms the entire city into a place of warmth, connection, and joy.

In Davao City, each festival reflects the soul of the city. We are resilient, diverse, and deeply connected. So whether you arrive in March or December, June or August, you’ll find yourself stepping into something bigger than an event. You’ll step into a story.
