Last week, I had the wonderful opportunity to join a Kapihan session with Mindanao Media, and it turned out to be more than just your usual coffee conversation. This gathering shed light on a movement that’s been quietly but powerfully shaping lives for over six decades. MILO®’s mission of building champions in life through sports.

As someone who grew up seeing those iconic green packs in the kitchen, I’ve always associated MILO® with energy and childhood memories. But this forum opened my eyes to the deeper work they’re doing. Nurturing not just athletes, but values-driven, confident, and resilient individuals through grassroots sports programs in the Philippines.
MILO®’s Champion-Building Programs
MILO®’s programs aren’t just about creating future medalists. They’re about building a healthier, more confident generation. For 61 years, MILO® has been championing this cause, and their latest initiatives show how seriously they take this mission.
1. MILO® Active Pilipinas
A nationwide campaign promoting active, healthy lifestyles through events like the National MILO® Marathon, Sports Clinics, Barangay Liga, and strategic partnerships with DepEd, PSC, and LGUs.
Their goal is to reach 3 million kids by 2025 with accessible, inclusive programs.
2. National MILO® Marathon
The country’s largest and longest-running marathon has become a unifying event for runners of all ages, skill levels, and abilities.
Over 300 athletes with disabilities who joined the Manila leg have shown MILO®’s commitment to inclusivity and equal opportunity in sports.
3. MILO® Sports Clinics
Structured programs offering expert-led training in 35 sports, from basketball and taekwondo to newer, exciting additions like pole vault and skateboarding.
With over 1,000 classes nationwide, these clinics are making sure that from Cagayan Valley to Mindanao, every kid has a chance to discover their champion potential.
4. MILO® Barangay Liga
Grassroots basketball is alive and well, thanks to MILO®’s Barangay Liga, organizing community-based tournaments and enhancing over 100 barangay basketball courts in partnership with Boysen Paints.
The program’s reach has expanded to over 200 barangays and involved more than 200,000 athletes, fostering not just athletic talent but also community pride and unity.
5. MILO® Safe Swim
The latest addition to MILO®’s initiatives, this program is addressing a critical need: water safety. Partnering with the Philippine Red Cross, they’re equipping 3,600 kids and parents with swimming lessons, emergency response, and first aid training to help prevent drowning incidents.
It’s More Than Just a Chocolate Drink
MILO® believes sports teaches kids life skills. Grit, teamwork, discipline, resilience. The kind of stuff that helps you win in life, not just in games. And they’re making sure kids from all walks of life get the chance to learn those skills.
